Houston Center Unable to Play Due to Plantar Fascia Surgery

plantar fasciitisHouston Rockets player Marcus Camby does not seem to have a promising future ahead of him regarding his basketball career. The center suffered another obstacle after tearing his plantar fascia.

“My plantar fascia is torn,” Camby told the Houston Chronicle, “I’m trying to do whatever I can to avoid surgery. We’re just going to rehab it and see how it goes in the next two weeks and take it from there. We don’t want to rehab it and nurse it and still have it lingering. That is something I’m going to sit back and figure out and definitely look toward long term, as the season progresses to the second half of the season. I have to be smart about it.” The plan for Camby’s recovery is undisclosed but it is probable to last between weeks and months.

If you are suffering from plantar fasciitis, it is highly recommended to seek the care of a podiatrist, like Dr. Greg Khaimov of Foot and Ankle Center of Fort Lee, LLC. Dr. Kahimovwill examine your heel pain and determine if you have plantar fasciitis before providing the appropriate treatment options.

· Conservative measures – anti-inflammatories, ice packs, stretching exercises, physical therapy, orthotic devices.
· Shockwave therapy – sends sound waves to the areas where pain is experience.  Requires multiple sessions.  This is used for very persistent cases of plantar fasciitis.
